Fashion Capital: Paris Fashion Week (PFW) highlights SS24

Paris is considered the fashion capital of the world. It is the epicenter of haute couture fashion that is home to extravagant ateliers and designers. The city has a reputation for bringing theatrical fashion shows and stunning art direction to life in the form of couture. Each season of Paris Fashion Week is indeed a spectacular event that lures celebrities, supermodels, and many high-profile socialites to the showcase.

This edition of Paris Fashion Week marks the last leg of the fashion showcase for the Spring Summer (SS) 2024 collections. The showcase had 108 designers with their unique collections across 67 runway shows over 7 days. The heritage French luxury fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, and Christian Dior – along with a diverse range of designers have showcased their collection with opulence and artistic expression. Vivienne Westwood: Punk revival meets elegance

Vivienne Westwood, renowned for introducing modern punk to the fashion scene, delivered a striking collection at Paris Fashion Week SS24. The collection masterfully blended raw, deconstructed silhouettes with classic prints and patterns. Pops of glitter and chic accessories added a touch of glamour, making it a memorable show. Pamela Anderson and Christina Hendricks were spotted in the front row for the show.

Hermes: Minimalist elegance amidst nature

Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection for Hermes embraced simplicity and minimalism. Set against a backdrop of meadows and tall grass, the earthy tones of brown, beige, and deep orange took center stage. The collection emphasized the natural contours of the body, creating an elegant and understated look.

Elie Saab: ‘Moonlight shadow’ couture

Elie Saab’s SS24 collection, titled ‘Moonlight Shadow,’ epitomized couture elegance. The collection featured white, ivory, and metallic tones with occasional pops of color and glitter embellishments. The result was a stunning showcase of sartorial excellence and sophistication.

Alexander McQueen: Intriguing Anatomy

Alexander McQueen’s SS24 collection, named ‘Anatomy,’ delved into intriguing elegance. Bold cuts, a play of reds, blacks, and whites, and elements inspired by the human form defined this collection. The show left a lasting impression with its fusion of mystery and elegance. Cate Blanchett looked chic in her black pantsuit with red drape detailing as she attended at show. Front row also saw in attendance Alexander Edwards and Cher.

Victoria Beckham: Signature Aesthetic

Victoria Beckham’s SS24 collection paid homage to the brand’s signature aesthetic. Oversized silhouettes, sheer fabrics, and a neutral palette were the highlights. The collection celebrated the label’s distinct style and elegance. Her husband David Beckham and their children were the usual guests in the front row. They were joined by Eva Longoria, Pamela Anderson, Anna Wintour, Kris Jenner, and Kim Kardashian.

Coperni: Denim and Bold Cuts

Coperni’s memorable collection featured an abundance of denim, bold cuts, and a formal-wear aesthetic. The showcase demonstrated a contemporary take on fashion, embracing daring designs and modern elegance.

Uma Wang: Venetian Opulence

Chinese designer Uma Wang opened Day Four with a collection inspired by Venetian culture and vintage opulence. The collection showcased distressed vintage fabrics, protruding volumes, ribbons, and drawstrings, creating a unique and opulent aesthetic.

Chloe: Botanical and Floral Inspiration

Chloe’s Spring/Summer 24 collection, under the creative direction of Gabriela Hearst, was a botanical and floral-inspired showcase rooted in climate consciousness. The collection celebrated nature with its choice of fabrics and designs. Venus Williams and Issa Rae dressed in monochrome ensembles to attend the Chole SS24 show. Other celebrities to join the front row at the Chloe SS24 showcase were Olivia Wilde, Vanessa Kirby, and Hayley Atwell.

Givenchy: Chic Styles and Neutral Tones

Givenchy’s collection by Matthew Williams captivated the audience with chic styles, a contemporary aesthetic, and a palette of neutral tones. The show exuded sophistication and modernity. Jared Leto, America Ferrera, Tyga, Sabrina Carpenter, Alexander Edwards, and Cher were in attendance for the show.

Schiaparelli: Iconic Ready-to-Wear

Schiaparelli’s ready-to-wear collection by Daniel Roseberry was nothing short of iconic. White silhouettes, button-down shirts, bold cuts, and signature elements defined this stunning showcase. Model Kendall Jenner graced the runway in an embellished red midi, adding to the glamour of the show. Her sister Kylie Jenner was seated front row in a glittering Schiaparelli dress. Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh also joined the list of attendees.

Marni: Playful Vibrance and Advanced Technology

Marni’s SS24 collection, presented by Creative Director Francesco Risso, embraced playful vibrance and advanced technology. The collection featured oversized coats, boxy blazers, and experimental silhouettes in multi-coloured and striped aesthetics. 3D floral elements added an artistic touch.

Acne Studios: ‘After Hours Liberation’

Acne Studios’ Spring/Summer 24 collection, named ‘After Hours Liberation,’ showcased silhouettes in denim, leather, and silk. The collection exuded a sense of liberation and style, drawing attention from celebrities like Kylie Jenner. Kylie was styled in a luscious red dress that was hard to miss. Amelia Dimoldenberg, Alexandra Shipp, Jordyn Woods, and Kathryn Gallagher amongst others were a few other celebrities in attendance at the Acne SS24 showcase.

Balmain: Floral-Inspired Elegance

Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing presented a floral-inspired collection that drew inspiration from the brand’s archives. The collection featured deep necklines, extravagant sleeves, and mini dresses, creating an elegant and captivating show. Lucy Hale, Poppy Delevingne, Taylor Hill, Dove Cameron, Madison Bailey amongst others were the few supermodels and celebrities in attendance.

Saint Laurent: Aviator Aesthetic

Saint Laurent’s SS24 collection, showcased at the Eiffel Tower, paid homage to female pilots and aviators. The collection featured pocketed jumpsuits, khaki-colored bottoms, buttoned tank tops, head caps, and leather gloves. The runway showcased a palette of burgundy, brown, and cream colors, embodying aviation-inspired elegance. Kate Moss, Demi Moore, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zoë Kravitz, and Hailey Bieber were spotted at the show styled in black looks.

Christian Dior: Empowering Statements

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Christian Dior show made empowering statements with a powerful video installation by artist Elena Bellantoni. Feminist statements adorned the walls, challenging stereotypes. The collection featured transparent dresses, blazers, gowns, skirts, and black coats over white shirts, delivering a message of empowerment. Robert Pattison, Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Zegler, Lola Tung, Elizabeth Debicki, Charlize Theron, Elle Macpherson amongst others sat front row to attend the Dior SS24 showcase.

The show was also graced by Princess Maria Chiara and Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt: Beach-Themed Extravaganza

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, a newcomer to Paris Fashion Week, opened with a beach-themed collection. The showcase featured a range of outfits, from formal grey ensembles to vibrant Barbie pink and sky-blue dresses, offering diversity in style.

Victor Weinsanto: Swarovski Extravagance

Victor Weinsanto’s collection featured an extravagant wedding gown designed entirely in Swarovski. The show delivered opulence and glamour, setting the tone for a dazzling display of luxury.

Pierre Cardin: Return to Paris Fashion Week

Pierre Cardin returned to Paris Fashion Week after a long hiatus with a show at the headquarters of France’s Communist Party. The collection paid tribute to the ocean with its blue theme, creating a captivating visual experience.

Valentino: Art meets fashion and FKA Twigs performance

Valentino’s SS24 was an emotive showcase that was visually stunning and emotionally charged the audience. Models walked down the ramp at Les Beaux-Arts wearing white cut-out mini dresses with intricate 3D baroque foliage designs. Florence Pugh, Rosie Huntingon-Whiteley, Simone Ashley, Maude Apatow were among the notable attendees.
