Nitu Ghanghas

From winning the commonwealth games to winning gold at the Women’s World Boxing Championship, Nitu has come a long way.
She won the first gold medal for India during the world boxing tournament and secured her top position after winning against Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in their 45-48 kg category finals. Considering that Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg is a two time Asian Champion with bronze medal, this win for Nitu comes with affirmation of her skills to make a strong comeback and progress during the match. Nitu continued to show her progression in the game by dominating Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg to win herself a gold medal.

Nikhat Zareen
Category: 50 KG
Nikhat is no new names in boxing and especially when it comes to winning India proud moments. She put across a stellar show against Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam to win her second gold in the boxing world championships.
Being a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Nikhat came in strong to the Women’s World Boxing Championship 2023 against her two-time Asian champion. She kept her punching technique accurate and deployed a quick feet counterattack throughout the game to gain points in her favour and move towards victory. Nikhat is highlighted in the 50 KG category with this win.

Lovlina Borgohain
Category: 75 KG
With an Olympic bronze medal in her kitty, Lovlina won a gold for India in the Women’s World Boxing Championship 2023. She defeated Australia Caitlin Anne Parker in a 5-2 split. She also marked India’s fourth gold medal win at the annual tournament and the last too, making the country swell with pride.
Winning in the 70-75 kg category, this is her first gold medal at the competition after winning bronze in 2018 and 2019 editions. In this final match, she beat her opponent by 3-2 margin and used her unique experience and exceptional technical ability to outpunch her opponent and add another feather to her cap.

Saweety Boora
Category: 81 KG
The 30-year-old boxer hailing from Haryana and representing India at an International level won her gold medal in the 75-81 kg category against China’s Wang Lina by a split decision of 4-3. If you saw this intense final, you’d notice how Saweety faced a challenging opponent and with her mindfulness of technical skills and strength she was able to surpass her opponent in the very close bout.
While the match was a close one, what made the Indian boxer shine was her resilience to carry on with her technical abilities to gain advantage over her opponent. A great of on spot thinking, skills and strength is what helped her bag the gold.
