Paris fashion week is undoubtedly one of the most sought after fashion weeks where we see the top designers showcasing their collection to the biggest names in the celebrities who are seen walking the ramp, partnering with the top iconic luxury houses to bring an all exclusive and luxury experience to the audience.

The recently concluded Paris fashion week with spring summer collection for 2023, we saw some of the biggest fashion names coming together and giving us some mind blowing, astounding artistic creativity that promises us and takes us towards a new age of fashion. Here are iconic moments from Spring 2023 Paris Fashion Week:

1. Coperni’s magical work of art

What’s more stunning than world famous Bella Hadid walking down the ramp in a Coperni costume?
Well, add to this a pinch of technology and we have something the world had not seen before.

Coperni is all the fashion world can talk about at the moment. They made history as the brand created a runway look on spot and took the showcase of their SS 2023 collection, as well as the fashion industry to a whole new level.

This French luxury womenswear brand worked with the supermodel Bella Hadid, who appeared on stage in a nude underwear and was shortly joined by a team of experts who are known to have invented a spray on fabric. They started to spray the paint on the model which within a few minutes turned into a perfect Coperni slip dress and with the help of a design assistant the spray on fabric was converted into one of the most stunning garments showcased on the runway. Not only was this a not to miss moment for its sheer drama – but als how it has now defined the world of fashion to be in touch with technology and embracing it live on the runway.

2. Loewe’s fashion as shield for SS 2023

In stark contrast to the brand’s earlier collection, with Spring 2023, Anderson’s designs were seen peeling back the layers of the circus-like surreality to reveal something stronger. This strong vision was seen via the shape and offering subtle hints of fashion as a shield. Take into consideration the polo mini dress with pleats that was seen to veer out front and center to the strapless gowns with massive panniers poking at the waist.

One could say this is the kind of fashion garments that one wears to keep people from getting too close. These when seen and contrasted with short, shrunken silhouettes along small leather shorts and glass-textured playsuits – were all giving off a shield-like in their finish and execution.

If you want to define surrealism in shape – Anderson’s Spring 2023 collection is what it would look like.

3. Kanye West opening for Balenciaga

Making his first ever runway appearance, Kanye West, the popular rapper from the USA, surprised the world when he opened for Balenciaga’s Summer 2023 collection.

The set was designed as a strong metaphor to showcase digging the truth and being down to earth. Kanye walked the ramp wearing a massive padded jacket with cargo pockets and a security patch – what can also appear to be a homage to one of Demna’s signature Vetements designs with leather pants and new running sneakers.

The creative director for Balencigia, Demna did not directly reference the terrain to stay away from generalizations and quotes ‘I’ve decided to no longer explain my collections and verbalize my designs, but to express a state of mind’. He further added ‘I hate boxed and I hate labels…Individualism in fashion is downgraded to pseudo trends dictated by a post in stories of some celebrities of the moment’.

One of the most memorable moments this season was brought to us by Saint Laurent. Bringing to us elegance with the dazzling Eiffle tower in the background. The creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, showcased short and knee-length shorts, high boots, dazzling cigarette pants and jumpsuits. This was followed with see-through tops with deep necklines that also helps to set the tones for the looks.

The iconic French house had Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber walking the ramp along with supermodel Naomi Cambell who closed making it even more iconic. The crowd included icons like Catherine Deneueve, Salma Hayek, Rami Malek amongst others.

5. Cher closing for Balmain

Cher, a true global icon and a pop star, was the one that stole the show for Balmain.
Olivier Rousteing of Balmain is known to be famous for how to stage a show. The show had a fashion parade, a decent celebrity spectacle and open to the public and always set to a thumping soundtrack.

However it was the final walk that got the loudest cheer of the night as Olivier brought Cher for a turn on the runway. Balmain had models ranging from Ashley Graham and Kristen McMenamy who walked the ramp for the iconic fashion house before Cher emerged. Cher was sporting a futuristic look of a sculptured silver bodysuit, a pair of shiny black leggings and chunky boots.

Kylie has been one of most frequent faces in the fashion week circuit and has given us some major fashion moments over the years. This Paris fashion week one of her most iconic outfits that stood out for the season for her was in Schiaparelli.

She became the talk of the town when she stepped out in a blue velvet floor-length dress for a Schiaparelli runway show. The dress was a true sensation and elegance with a deep plunge neckline and a calf-high split on the back of the dress.

Schiaparelli’s designs celebrated Surrealism and eccentric fashion since its inception which has continued to this day and was rather elegantly carried by Kylie Jenner.

7. The coming together of the Beckham Clan

One of the most famous and true to tradition family, The Beckhams, came all together yet again to support their wife, mother and mother-in-law, their matriarch, Victoria Beckham. This has a more major impact for the family since the rumors taking rounds for the last few months on a drift between the family’s new daughter in law and mother in law.

Victoria, at the end of the show was seen overcome with emotions during the appearance as she stopped at the front row to embrace her family and friends.

8. Off-white’s celebration of Virgil Abloh

A key moment and rather memorable one was the Off-white very on point tribute to founder Virgil Abloh. It also marked Ib Kamara’s first as the art and image director at Off-White in wake of Virgil Abloh’s passing.

The show was filled with live musical performance and a dance troupe, what was seen as a beautiful celebration of the visionary’s creative life, his work and also for what will come next from those entrusted with his legacy.

Puffer jackets, long oversized denim shorts for men paired with oversized blazers. Silhouettes ranged from black, blue, and a white color palette. A futuristic oversize coat offered a unique edge to the collection.

Without you, Paris would have had little to no representation’ – one of the comments seen on designer Ester Manas’ Instagram as she debuted her new collection and as read in the Sunset Body read. With one of the biggest seasons ending in almost two years, this one was the buzziest celebrity sitting front row. The spring 2023 presentations saw many top K-pop stars not only in the best seats but also on the runway. Like NCT Dream’s Jeno and iKon’s DK.

One of the most iconic of these K-pop moments was the girls of mega-band Blackpink who had at one point completely taken over Paris Fashion Week. Jisoo was seen wearing Dior, Rose opted for a mini dress by Saint Laurent and Jennie drew the crowd wearing Chanel.

The spring 2023 season was a chapter that will go down as a memorable one in the fashion history books for the K-pop royalty in the front rows, Cher, the Coperini’s ground-breaking use of tech with spray on fabric, actual inclusivity models, a lot of firsts with a ton of celebrity presence.
