He was the son of a tailor and considered it a medium of expressing himself. He worked at his family’s clothing factory before attending the fashion design school Istituto Marangoni. He dropped out because he thought he knew enough of the industry to make his mark. Dolce and Gabbana received worldwide fame when Madonna chose them to design the costumes for her Girlie show world tour.
