Hans Wilsdorf formed the Rolex company at the age of 24 in 1905. Rolex initially focussed on driving precision and epitomic quality in the movements of the wrist watch. To date, Rolex movements are carefully handcrafted, giving the signature brand its recognition. Rolex was the first Swiss watch to receive the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precisions. It received the Class A precision certificate, awarded by Kew Observatory in 1914.
According to Rolex – “Draw from traditions to drive innovation. Push back the limits to inspire. These convictions enabled Rolex to create an exceptional product – a watch that brings together considerable expertise and has accompanied a great many human adventures in widely diverse fields.”
